Job summary

Academics is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs across mainstream schools in Retford. This temporary, flexible supply role offers varied daily work and the chance to make a real difference in pupils' learning.

You will typically work 1:1 or in small groups, adapting approaches to meet individual needs, with safeguarding guidelines and strong collaboration with teachers and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Patient, calm and supportive approach.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEN within mainstream classrooms.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and engage with learning.
• Support pupils' communication, confidence and independence.
• Encourage positive behaviour using appropriate strategies.
• Work closely with teachers and other school staff.
• Adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies.
