Job summary

Scarlet Therapeutics is seeking a senior scientist to lead cell culture and process development for donor‑derived erythroid lines. You will maintain equipment, perform risk assessments, and work to uphold GMP quality standards.

The role requires collaboration with researchers, training teammates, and contributing to SOP development. You will apply molecular biology techniques (PCR/qPCR, cloning, viral transduction) and operate bioreactors with downstream filtration.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in mammalian cell culture and process development (upstream and downstream).
  • Familiarity with GMP standards and quality systems.
  • Experience with high‑throughput screening and automation is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, cloning, transduction, and transfection).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and calibrate all laboratory equipment in accordance with company standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments for all laboratory activities and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Characterise donor‑derived erythroid cell lines using cell biology and molecular biology methods.
  • Support and train other scientists, providing expert input into method development.
  • Review and update laboratory SOPs to align with quality standards.
