Job summary

Coventry Building Society is seeking a Senior Sanctions Analyst to join the Economic Crime Compliance team. The role focuses on developing, enhancing and overseeing the sanctions risk management framework, providing expert guidance and supporting investigations and escalations.

It operates in a 2LoD structure with a hybrid pattern requiring at least one day per week in Coventry or Manchester. The role requires strong knowledge of UK, EU, UN and OFAC regimes, plus experience in handling complex

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Sanctions Advisor or similar sanctions-focused Economic Crime role in a retail banking or equivalent environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK, EU, UN and OFAC sanctions regimes.
  • Ability to provide risk-based advice to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Sanctions Compliance Lead in developing, enhancing and overseeing the sanctions risk management framework.
  • Provide expert guidance on sanctions matters and support complex investigations and escalations.
  • Influence risk management practices and assist in satisfying regulatory expectations across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with 2LoD and other teams to ensure effective sanctions controls and reporting.

About the roleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Sanctions Analyst to join the Economic Crime Compliance team (sitting within 2nd Line Risk) at a pivotal time for the organisation. With sanctions regulation continuing to evolve and the financial crime landscape becoming increasingly complex, this role plays a key part in helping ensure the business maintains a robust and effective sanctions compliance framework.The Senior Sanctions Analyst will support the Sanctions Compliance Lead in the development, enhancement and oversight of the Group's sanctions risk management framework. The role holder will provide expert guidance on sanctions matters, support complex investigations and escalations, and help ensure that sanctions risks are identified, assessed and managed effectively across the organisation. Working within a 2LoD function, this highly collaborative role offers the opportunity to influence business decisions, control design and risk management practices.The role operates on a team-led hybrid approach with at least 1 day per week in either of our fantastic Coventry or Manchester offices.
