Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Safety and Reliability Engineering Consultant to lead safety, reliability and risk activities across complex projects. You will guide RAM planning, hazard analyses and safety case development while mentoring junior engineers.

You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, develop robust safety arguments and ensure alignment with legislation and industry standards across multiple sectors including rail and energy.

Qualifications

• Strong background in safety risk assessment and reliability engineering for safety-critical industries.
• Experience developing safety cases, hazard reports and RAM plans.
• Experience leading structured risk workshops (HAZID/HAZOP) and documenting outputs.
• Ability to model reliability using RAM techniques and reliability block diagrams.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for safety, reliability and risk assurance on complex, mission-critical projects.
• Review and quality-check project outputs including safety cases, RAM documentation and client deliverables.
• Develop engineering safety arguments to support design decisions and operations.
• Ensure outputs meet client expectations, Arcadis requirements, and relevant standards and codes.
• Chair and facilitate HAZID/HAZOP workshops and maintain hazard logs and close-out evidence.
• Lead FMECA, Bow-Tie, Fault Tree and Event Tree analyses; perform QRA and dispersion analyses as needed.
