Job summary

Abatec Recruitment is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to support projects within a highly regulated environment. You will work with facilities engineering teams to assess safety risks, develop safety requirements and support projects throughout the lifecycle, including nuclear safety analysis and safety case development.

UK nationality and eligibility for security clearance are required; experience with PRA, HAZOP, FMEA and nuclear safety standards is desirable, with dockyard exposure a plus.

Security Cleared | Senior Safety Engineer | £80k | onsite 1 day p/month

Abatec is recruiting a Senior Safety Engineer to support engineering projects within a highly regulated environment. You will work with facilities engineering teams to assess safety risks, develop safety requirements and support projects throughout the engineering lifecycle.

The role includes nuclear safety analysis, safety case development and the review of design changes to maintain safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake risk assessments, hazard identification and consequence analysis.
• Develop detailed safety requirements and safety cases to support facility design and operation.
• Conduct technical and feasibility studies and site investigations.
• Review project documentation and design changes, identifying risks and opportunities.

About You

• An understanding of engineering project lifecycles and safety analysis.
• Knowledge of safety case development, design review and regulatory compliance.
• The ability to communicate technical information clearly, manage stakeholder discussions and work collaboratively.
• A flexible approach to evolving project requirements and resolving engineering problems.
• UK nationality and eligibility for security clearance.

Desirable Experience

• Nuclear industry experience, ideally including reactor design, operations or safety systems.
• Knowledge of nuclear safety standards, probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), HAZOP and FMEA, and familiarity with safety analysis tools.
• Experience of design and construction phases within a dockyard environment.
