Job summary

Certain Advantage is seeking a Safety Engineer for a site-based, permanent role in the Southwest region of the UK. You will lead a small, experienced team delivering safety analyses, safety case development, design reviews, and regulatory compliance across projects.

The ideal candidate will bring nuclear industry experience, strong knowledge of safety principles, PRA, and hazard analyses, plus exposure to dock environment construction. A proactive, collaborative approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in the nuclear industry with reactor design, operations and safety systems.
• Knowledge of nuclear safety principles, standards and regulations including PRA and hazard analysis techniques (HAZOP, FMEA).
• Exposure to design and construction phases, especially in a dock environment, is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety analysis activities and develop safety cases.
• Perform design reviews ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to maintain safety standards.
• Support procurement and construction phases with safety input.

The Individual

We’re looking for people who can show:

• Relevant experience in the nuclear industry, ideally with exposure to reactor design, operations, and safety systems.
• Knowledge of nuclear safety principles, standards, and regulations, including probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), hazard analysis techniques (HAZOP, FMEA)
• Exposure to the design and construction phases, especially in a dock environment, will be an added advantage.
