Job summary

Abatec Recruitment is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to support engineering projects within a highly regulated environment. You will collaborate with facilities engineering teams to assess safety risks and develop safety requirements throughout the lifecycle.

The role includes nuclear safety analysis, safety case development and reviewing design changes to ensure regulatory compliance and safety standards. UK nationals with security clearance eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of engineering project lifecycles and safety analysis.
• Knowledge of safety case development, design review and regulatory compliance.
• The ability to communicate technical information clearly, manage stakeholder discussions and work collaboratively.
• A flexible approach to evolving project requirements and resolving engineering problems.
• UK nationality and eligibility for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Undertake risk assessments, hazard identification and consequence analysis.
• Develop detailed safety requirements and safety cases to support facility design and operation.
• Conduct technical and feasibility studies and site investigations.
• Review project documentation and design changes, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate governance meetings and communicate progress and changes to engineering teams and project stakeholders.
• Compile and peer review technical reports and support projects from concept through commissioning, operation and maintenance.
