Job summary

Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel seeks a seasoned rotating plant engineering lead for major transmission substations. You will steer the construction phase, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule compliance while representing the Client on site and coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and project teams.

Qualifications

• Significant engineering experience in rotating plant systems across design, testing, commissioning and operational support.
• Experience with CDM principles and risk management on major projects.
• Experience delivering engineering activities through the full project lifecycle (design to close-out).
• Understanding of high-voltage transmission governance, assurance and risk processes.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and CDM Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for rotating plant activities, ensuring compliance with standards and best practice.
• Manage engineering safety through CDM, hazard identification and risk controls.
• Prepare responses to technical and tender queries and support nonconformance management.
• Review submissions and support Client approval processes for rotating plant technology.
• Collaborate with authorities, stakeholders and project teams to progress technical deviations and governance.
• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers during design reviews and site activities.
• Provide site support including installation, commissioning, FAT, and witness points.
• Review close-out docs, as-builts, and health and safety files for project completion.
• Lead rotating plant engineering on projects or regional portfolios (£50m–£200m CAPEX).
• Identify and mitigate engineering, quality and delivery risks with Engineering and Project Managers.
• Deliver specialist technical support on complex rotating plant challenges.
