Job summary

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a Senior Road Worker at the Beverley Highways depot to lead a small team in maintaining the highway and footway networks within the East Riding area.

You will oversee construction and maintenance projects, including larger scale works, patching/surfacing, drainage, bridge maintenance and footway repairs, ensuring high standards for all road users.

Qualifications

• Must have proven track record in a supervisory role within highways maintenance or construction.
• Full clean driving licence is essential, preferably with Category C1 entitlement.
• If C1 entitlement is not held, LGV driver training must be undertaken within 6 months to Category C+E and driving duties performed as required.
• Standard 37-hour week, Monday to Friday; overtime on a planned basis with potential salary increase.
• Out of hours emergency standby service with additional payments for standby rota participation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage highway maintenance projects and related construction works.
• Deliver a range of works including patching, drainage, bridge maintenance, and footway repairs.
• Ensure high standards of work for highway users and maintain a proactive training pathway for staff.
• Coordinate standby rota participation and respond to emergency situations outside normal hours.
