Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our River and Coastal Team in the Southwest, with Senior or Principal level opportunities across Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton, Bristol or Cardiff. The role offers career development and advancement support.

The position involves designing and managing river, coastal and land development projects, with a focus on flood risk, river engineering and sustainable drainage solutions for public and private sector clients.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree, or equivalent.
• Chartered professional status, or close to application.
• Experience in Infrastructure or Environmental Design role.
• Experience producing Flood Risk Assessments and SuDS.
• Experience coordinating with multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
• Ability to represent the employer in client-facing roles.
• Independent working capability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs for drainage strategies, flood risk management, river engineering and restoration schemes.
• Undertake calculations and reports for planning and design stages.
• Prepare plans and drawings from concept through construction.
• Design Earthworks, river structures and drainage schemes with specifications.
• Ensure high-quality design delivery through QA checks.
• Engage with Environment Agency and other stakeholders for approvals.
• Collaborate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams across projects.
• Support projects during construction with site queries and inspections.
• Opportunity to grow the team and mentor junior engineers; potential line management.
• Project Management opportunities with training available.
