Job summary

EDF Energy Limited in Bridgwater is seeking an experienced Black Hat Rigger to lead lifting, rigging, installation, and mobilisation across our project environments. You will work with Appointed Persons, Crane Supervisors, and project teams to supervise rigging operations and provide technical guidance.

The role demands a safety-first mindset, extensive experience in heavy lift operations, LO(L)ER/PUWER knowledge, and the ability to interpret lift plans and drawings.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as Black Hat Rigger or senior rigging role.
• Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, BS 7121 and related standards.
• Ability to read lift plans, engineering drawings and risk assessments.
• Experience leading rigging teams on complex lifting operations.
• Experience selecting and inspecting lifting accessories.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate site rigging in line with procedures and RAMS.
• Supervise rigging teams with safety-focused leadership.
• Oversee preparation, inspection and use of lifting equipment.
• Ensure equipment inspection and maintenance to standard.
• Verify lifting accessories selection and application.
• Coordinate lifting operations with Appointed Persons, Crane Supervisors and engineers.
• Conduct pre-lift briefings for rigging personnel.
• Monitor lifting activities for compliance with plans.
• Stop operations when unsafe conditions identified.
• Review lift records and reports accurately.
