Job summary

Sgscare is seeking a Senior Residential Practitioner for a permanent role in South Tyneside. You will lead shifts, supervise Residential Practitioners and ensure children receive high-quality, person-centred care for ages 5–18 in a children's residential home.

Candidates should have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, with at least 1 year in a senior or team-leader role, and be prepared to participate in ongoing training and development, including sleep-ins where required.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare required if not already held.
  • Experience in Senior or Team Leader role (minimum 1 year).
  • Residential Childcare experience preferred but leadership in other health & social care settings considered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and provide first-line leadership to Residential Practitioners.
  • Ensure children receive high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Report to the Deputy and Registered Manager to maintain high-quality practice.

Job description

Job Title:

Senior Residential Practitioner

Location:

South Tyneside

Salary:

£36,160 per annum (based 160 hours per month and 11 sleep-ins per month)

£43,416 per annum (based 204 hours per month and 11 sleeps)

Hourly Rate:

£14.50 per hour

Working Hours / Shift Pattern:

160-hour or 204-hour contract available

Employment Type:

Permanent

Sleep-ins:

Approximately 11 sleep-ins per month at £60 per sleep

Service:

Children's Residential Home

Service Users:

Children and Young People aged 5–18 years with a variety of different needs and requirements.

Qualifications Required:

Level 3 Diploma in Social Care (0–18 years) preferred. Level 3 Diploma in Adult Social Care accepted, with completion of three Residential Childcare units. Candidates without a relevant qualification will be required to complete the full Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

Experience Required:

Minimum of 1 year's experience in a Senior or Team Leader role. Previous Residential Childcare experience is desirable; however, Senior or Team Leader experience within other Health & Social Care settings will also be considered.

As a Senior Residential Practitioner, you will lead shifts, provide first-line leadership and supervision to Residential Practitioners, and ensure children receive the highest standard of care. You will report directly to the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager and play a key role in maintaining high-quality practice throughout the home.

  • Deputise in the absence of the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager when required.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and external professionals.
  • Be willing to undertake ongoing training and professional development.
