Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People (or willingness to complete).
  • Experience in a children’s residential setting, ideally in a senior/lead capacity.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and OFSTED regulations.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise support staff, including mentoring and performance management.
  • Act as a senior role model, promoting best practice with EBD and challenging behaviours.
  • Lead safeguarding, risk assessments and individual care planning.
  • Support shifts and ensure OFSTED compliance.
  • Contribute to team training and development initiatives.
  • Assist with staff rotas and resource management.
  • Support children and young people’s emotional needs and de-escalation.
  • Assist with record-keeping and reporting.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a dedicated children’s residential service in Corby, Northamptonshire. This senior role offers an excellent opportunity to lead and support a team of support workers, contributing to the delivery of high-quality care and positive outcomes for children and young people with EBD and challenging behaviours.

Deputy Manager Position also available for strong seniors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing leadership and supervision to support staff, including mentoring and performance management
  • Acting as a senior role model, demonstrating best practice in supporting children and young people with EBD
  • Leading on safeguarding, risk assessments, and individual care planning to ensure safety and well-being
  • Supporting the team during shifts, maintaining a high standard of care and compliance with OFSTED standards
  • Contributing to team training and development initiatives
  • Assisting with staff rotas, ensuring sufficient cover and effective resource management
  • Supporting children and young people with their emotional and behavioural needs, fostering a positive environment
  • Promoting positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as record-keeping and reporting
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People or willingness to complete
  • Significant experience working within a children’s residential setting, ideally in a senior or lead capacity
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and OFSTED regulations
  • Experience supporting children and young people with EBD and challenging behaviours
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to supervise and develop staff
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as required
  • Full UK Driving Licence
