About the role
We are seeking a Senior Research Technician to work closely with researchers and clinicians in genomics and neurodegeneration, managing the NG-LRS and NGS service. Responsibilities include sample and library preparation, platform operation, ordering consumables, sample organisation, and data storage and analysis.
The role involves training students and users in sequencing techniques, liaising with UK DRI/Neurodegenerative Disease colleagues, and other research groups within and outside UCL. Personal development opportunities include training in short and long-read sequencing and bioinformatics.
This position offers a chance to develop skills in sequencing and bioinformatics, working with advanced technology on cutting-edge research projects.
The role is available from 01 September, funded initially until 30 November by the Cure Alzheimer's Fund and NIHR.

About you
You should have a BSc in Biology or a related field, with experience exploring new lab techniques, handling patient biological material, databasing, and analysis. Understanding of Long Read sequencing data and troubleshooting skills are required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and initiative are essential.
