Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic administrator to support the care delivery for children and young people with haematological and oncological diagnoses.

The post holder will serve as a central communication point for shared care centres, primary care, and community teams involved in the treatment of children and young people in the South Thames region.

Main duties of the job
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  1. Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, relatives, and other involved teams.
  2. Provide non-clinical information to patients and carers about appointments.
  3. Relay relevant information to appropriate team members or departments.
  4. Document and distribute clinical and general correspondence according to Trust standards.
  5. Maintain clinical information on the Trust information system and other patient-related data.
Person specification
Education/Qualifications
  1. Good general education, GCSE level or equivalent.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  3. NVQ level 3 or equivalent through training and experience.
  4. Knowledge of secretarial/admin procedures and systems.
  5. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  6. AMSPAR qualification or equivalent.
Experience
  1. Significant secretarial experience.
  2. Experience training other secretarial staff.
  3. Experience working within a healthcare setting.
  4. Experience managing or supervising staff.

  1. Problem-solving skills for non-routine issues.
  2. Effective communication in English, both written and spoken.
