Job summary

Sage Homes in Northampton is seeking a Senior Rent and Service Charge Officer to ensure rents and service charges are set accurately, transparently and in line with regulatory requirements. The role is based at our Northampton office 3 days per week with 2 days remotely if required.

You will lead budgets, oversee estimates and rent reviews, manage agents, and provide expert guidance on lease structures, rent setting and reporting to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in service charge management, rent setting or similar housing role.
• Strong knowledge of service charge legislation and lease interpretation.
• Excellent analytical skills with ability to reconcile financial data.
• Confident stakeholder management and constructive challenge.
• Proactive, customer-focused approach with ability to explain complex information.

About the role:

We're looking for a Senior Rent and Service Charge Officer to join our Northampton team and play a key role in ensuring rents and service charges are managed accurately, transparently and in line with regulatory requirements.

This role is based at our Northampton office 3 days per week with 2 days remotely if required.

Key Duties:

• Lead the preparation and review of service charge budgets, reconciliations and annual rent reviews, ensuring full compliance with legislative, regulatory and lease requirements.
• Oversee the accuracy of service charge estimates and actual costs across multiple tenures, maintaining robust controls, audit trails and quality assurance standards.
• Manage relationships with managing agents and management companies, challenging costs and service delivery to ensure value for money and compliance.
• Provide technical expertise and advice across the business on rent setting, service charges, lease structures and regulatory requirements.
• Support continuous improvement by enhancing processes, systems and controls while delivering clear reporting and meaningful insight to stakeholders.

About you

• Proven experience in service charge management, rent setting, housing finance or a similar technical housing role.
• Strong knowledge of service charge legislation, lease interpretation, the Rent Standard, Shared Ownership and Consumer Standards.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to reconcile complex financial and operational data accurately.
• Confident stakeholder management skills with the ability to challenge constructively and build strong relationships internally and externally.
• A proactive and customer-focused approach, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and support colleagues through technical guidance and quality assurance.
