Job summary

ECM Selection is seeking a Senior/Lead Full Stack Developer to spearhead a new digital transformation for a UK science research organisation. You will lead hands-on delivery of modern web applications with a strong emphasis on UX, performance and accessibility, while guiding technical direction.

You will work with React, Next.js and Python/Django, engage with external stakeholders and contribute to design, build, test and operations.

Qualifications

• Experience as a senior or lead level full stack developer with modern web technologies, strong front end focus (React/Next.js) and Python or Django.
• Experience or exposure to Headless CMS and API-driven architectures, plus CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Good communication skills and experience working with external technical stakeholders.

Job description

Take a leading role as a Senior Developer to realise innovative web products as part of the company's new digital transformation. The company is at the forefront of science research in the UK, and put high priority in having clear public communications and news of their successes to elicit further future support. Leading their new web application projects, you will take a critical hands‑on approach to shape this.

The focus for projects is on the user experience and utilising modern web technologies to optimise its overall visibility and stakeholder engagement. The role will be both hands‑on combined with technical leadership, contributing to design, build, test, optimisation and operation.

Requirements:

• Experience as a senior or lead level full stack developer, with demonstrable projects using modern web technologies including a strong focus on front end development (this should include the use of React and ideally Next.js as well as Python or Django).
• Additionally, have experience or some exposure to Headless CMS and API driven architectures, as well as use of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Good communication skills and experience working with external technical stakeholders.

Hybrid working is an option, with minimally 2 days in the office. Other flexible full‑time working arrangements are possible. Full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK are required, no company sponsorship. This role is initially for 24 months, with the possibilities of extension to be discussed near the end of this term.
