Job summary

VIAVI Solutions Inc. in Stevenage is seeking a Senior Regression and Validation (RAV) Engineer to develop software validation tests for 5G/6G and O-RAN equipment.

Work in an Agile, cross-functional team, performing test design, execution, debugging, and interoperability testing with lab systems and customer environments.

You'll contribute to test documentation in Jira/Confluence and mentor teammates in quality-driven practices.

Qualifications

• Engineering bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, wireless, or related field.
• Extensive telecommunications testing experience, especially E2E 5G/ORAN.
• Familiar with 3GPP specifications and UE simulators.
• Experience using Python or other scripting languages for test automation.
• Ability to work with minimal input across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Participate in scaled Agile ceremonies and sprint planning.
• Design, develop, and execute functional, stress and system tests for 3GPP 5G, 6G, and ORAN.
• Debug test failures and analyze logs using Wireshark or similar tools.
• Create comprehensive test plans aligned to product requirements.
• Install, commission, and configure lab systems.
• Perform interoperability testing in customer environments (remote/on-site).
• Maintain test docs in Jira and Confluence.
• Support sprint goals and meet delivery timelines.
• Contribute to the RAV community of practice for quality improvements.
• Provide training on new features and test setups.
