Job summary

VIAVI in Stevenage is seeking an experienced test engineer focused on end-to-end testing of 5G/ORAN products. You will work in cross-functional teams following scaled Agile practices to design and run functional, stress, and system tests.

Responsibilities include creating comprehensive test plans, debugging failures, analyzing logs with Wireshark, and documenting results in Jira and Confluence. You will configure new lab systems and perform interoperability testing in customer environments.

Qualifications

• Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Wireless, or similar.
• Prior knowledge or experience of VIAVI TM500 or UE simulator is desirable.
• Prior experience and the ability to understand 3GPP physical layer specifications.
• Demonstrable experience in E2E 4G/5G/O-RAN testing using various third-party network and UE simulators.
• Proven knowledge of at least one scripting language (ideally, Python).
• Ability to solve various issues using a variety of methods and techniques.

• Work to sprint goals and deliver within the required time and schedule.
• Contribute to the RAV community of practice for quality and improvement initiatives.
• Provide support and training on new features/test setup.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements

• Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Wireless, or similar.
• Extensive experience in the telecommunications domain, with specific focus on E2E testing of 5G products.
• Prior knowledge or experience of VIAVI TM500 or UE simulator is desirable.
• Prior experience and the ability to understand 3GPP physical layer specifications.
• Demonstrable experience in E2E 4G/5G/O-RAN testing using various third-party network and UE simulators.
