Job summary

WSP is seeking System Safety Engineers to join our UK & Ireland team. You will provide safety guidance on large rail projects, lead small projects, and mentor under senior professionals within our SEIA group.

Based in UK locations like London, Manchester, Bristol or Birmingham, this role supports hybrid working and continues professional development toward Chartership within a leading global engineering firm.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical engineering discipline.
• Post-graduate experience in system safety engineering.
• Professional membership with SaRS, IET or IMechE.
• Professional registration as Incorporated or Chartered Engineer.
• Familiarity with Engineering Safety Management (iESM or Yellow Book).
• Knowledge of CSM-RA Regulation on UK rail projects.
• Experience in mainline or metro railway disciplines (signalling, telecoms, E&P).

Responsibilities

• Provide system safety support and guidance on large projects under senior team.
• Lead on smaller projects including Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment workshops.
• Prepare System Definitions, Safety Plans, Hazard Records, and Safety Justification Reports (CSM-RA for rail).
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop designs, standards and specifications for rail projects.
• Act as Project Manager for smaller projects with senior team support.
