Job summary

Alstom in Wimbledon seeks a High Level Technician to support mechanical and electrical maintenance of the Class 701 fleet in a safety-critical environment. You will assess faults, supervise maintenance activities, and ensure reliability targets are met while upholding safety standards.

Reporting to the Shift Production Manager, you will work in a small technical team across 5 days on/5 off and 4 nights on/off patterns, contributing to continuous improvements and on-train diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification: NVQ Level 3 in electrical or equivalent.
• Experience with laptops and diagnostic tools for fault determination.
• Ability to work from maintenance manuals and schematics.
• Proven experience in mechanical or electrical fault finding and repairs; strong troubleshooting and evidence-gathering.
• Highly self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative.
• Rail industry experience is preferable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance activities and perform fault finding and repair work.
• Provide engineering advice on key train systems and diagnose faults.
• Optimize maintenance schedules and perform detailed fault finding and diagnostics.
• Support root cause analysis and supplier interactions for corrective actions.
• Produce written reports on findings and recommendations.
• Monitor train reliability and availability performance.
