Job summary

Poutrix is seeking a Senior Rail Drainage Engineer to join the North West & Central Business Unit and lead drainage design packages for rail and infrastructure projects, ensuring outputs meet programme, budget, and client requirements.

You will use Infodrainage and CivilStorm, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with standards and Arcadis requirements.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in drainage design for infrastructure projects; rail preferred.
• Experience with surface water and foul water drainage.
• Experience using drainage design or hydraulic modelling software.
• Ability to deliver and check technical deliverables.
• Knowledge of approvals and consents with authorities.
• Ability to guide junior team members with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of drainage design packages for rail and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare, review and verify drainage calculations, drawings and reports.
• Develop drainage solutions including surface water, foul water and SUDS.
• Use Infodrainage and CivilStorm to support technical delivery.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate drainage into designs.
• Support approvals and consents with LLFAs and Water Authorities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
• Identify and manage design risks, ensuring compliance with standards and Arcadis requirements.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders and project teams for successful delivery.
