Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Rail Drainage Engineer to lead drainage design packages for major rail and infrastructure projects. You will develop innovative drainage solutions, oversee calculations and reports, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust, compliant outcomes.

You will mentor junior engineers, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and drive technical excellence while delivering across surface water, foul water, SuDS, and earthworks drainage on complex

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong drainage design experience within infrastructure projects.
• Experience delivering surface water, foul water, SuDS and earthworks drainage solutions.
• Proficiency with drainage design and hydraulic modelling software such as InfoDrainage, CivilStorm or similar.
• Experience producing and checking technical deliverables.
• Good understanding of drainage approvals and consent processes.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to junior team members.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of drainage design packages for rail and infrastructure projects.
• Produce and review drainage calculations, technical reports, drawings and specifications.
• Develop drainage solutions covering surface water drainage, foul water drainage, SuDS, earthworks and rail/highway drainage systems.
• Utilise drainage software including InfoDrainage and CivilStorm.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams for seamless integration.
• Support approvals and consent applications with Local Authorities and Water Authorities.
• Identify and manage design risks and ensure compliance with standards.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
• Liaise with clients and project stakeholders throughout delivery.
