Job summary

Arcadis in Warrington is seeking a Principal Rail Drainage Engineer to provide technical leadership across rail and infrastructure drainage design. You will lead complex drainage packages, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and drive design assurance on major projects.

You will guide engineers, review technical deliverables, manage design risks and support client engagement to ensure high-quality drainage solutions.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in drainage design for rail, infrastructure or related civil engineering projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of drainage systems, including surface water, foul water, SuDS, earthworks drainage and rail or highway drainage.
• Experience leading complex design packages and coordinating multidisciplinary technical inputs.
• Experience reviewing, verifying and approving technical deliverables.
• Strong understanding of engineering standards, design risk management and assurance processes.
• Experience providing technical leadership to engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead drainage design across rail and infrastructure projects.
• Deliver complex drainage design packages and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Review, verify and approve calculations, drawings, reports and technical deliverables.
• Lead design reviews and support technical assurance activities.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and project teams.
• Manage design risks, assumptions, technical decisions and engineering issues.
• Support project delivery through engagement with clients, stakeholders and approval authorities.
• Support programme, commercial and change-related project activities.
• Promote technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Support colleagues working towards CRE responsibilities where applicable.
