Job summary

Toshiba Europe Limited is seeking a Software Engineer (or Senior Software Engineer) to join our Quantum Technology Centre in Cambridge, UK. You will design, implement and maintain the software stack for quantum communication products, including control software for hardware, networks, and orchestration tools.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, building REST APIs, CLI and GUI interfaces, and tooling for complex network topologies, with emphasis on robust software engineering and

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python in Linux environments.
• Strong familiarity with cloud native development, containerisation, CI/CD, API development, and observability.
• Detailed knowledge of networking and hardware interfacing.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with Git, unit testing, and code quality automation.
• Good communication and time management within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and maintain command and control software to orchestrate hardware and implement quantum communication protocols.
• Design, develop and maintain user-facing interfaces (REST APIs, CLI, GUI, SNMP).
• Build new quantum networking software for orchestration and monitoring of complex deployed network topologies.
• Collaborate with a multifunctional development team to test and debug systems.
• Write technical design and test documentation.
• Guide product development and overall systems architectures, including code reviews and mentoring.
