Job summary

Hyreus is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major civil engineering programme in Cumbria. You will lead commercial management, cost control, contract administration and subcontractor management across key work packages, ensuring alignment with NEC contracts and project objectives.

Working closely with project teams, you will produce cost reports, forecasts and final accounts, identify value engineering opportunities and maintain robust commercial records while guiding junior QS staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in senior commercial roles on civil engineering projects.
• Experience with NEC contracts and final accounts is essential.
• Strong cost control, forecasting and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management of project packages from procurement to final account.
• Manage project budgets, forecasts, valuations and monthly commercial reporting.
• Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and procedures.
• Oversee subcontractor/supplier accounts, including tender analysis, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs and identify risks and opportunities for cost savings.
• Manage change control, variations and contractual claims.
• Collaborate with project teams to maintain commercial performance and governance.
• Prepare accurate cost reports and forecasts for leadership.
• Lead negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers on terms and conditions.
• Support procurement with tender reviews and subcontractor appointments.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and improved commercial outcomes.
• Maintain comprehensive commercial records and documentation.
