Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead a team delivering end-to-end commercial and contract management for a major infrastructure programme. The role involves oversight of complex works, cost control, change management and stakeholder engagement across a portfolio of projects.

You will join a team operating with a flexible hybrid model, with regular office presence and occasional attendance at project sites to support collaboration and delivery excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or other relevant technical qualification.
• Chartered status MRICS/MCInstCES or equivalent.
• Experience in contract administration, ideally NEC/PFI forms.
• Experience in a Quantity Surveying/Commercial function in civil engineering/infrastructure.
• Strong stakeholder management and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead on the commercial and contract management and assurance of all works, ensuring alignment with the contract and timely responses.
• Line management responsibility and mentoring for the team; support professional qualifications as applicable.
• Oversee supply chain management including enquiry documentation, quotation assessment, works order, and instructions to supply chain.
• Ensure cost and value reconciliation and accurate cost capture across contracts; support forecasts and risk profiles.
• Manage and negotiate change including Early Warning and Compensation Events with client and supply chain.
• Interface with Major Projects and other special projects to align requirements and risks.
• Maintain commercial oversight on key project risks and management as the contract progresses.
• Interface with stakeholders including commercial/contract consultants and legal advisors for governance.
