Job summary

Ground Control seeks an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to own the commercial performance of major landscape construction projects. You will collaborate with Project Managers and operational teams to monitor finances, manage risk, and maximise profitability throughout the project lifecycle.

You will act as a trusted commercial partner, guiding decisions on contracts, change control and procurement while building strong relationships with clients and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant QS experience in construction, infrastructure or landscape environments.
• Strong experience in project finances, cost control, forecasting and reporting.
• Excellent understanding of contract management, procurement and change control.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to build productive relationships with teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Commercially astute with proactive risk management.
• Chartered status with RICS is preferred.
• Experience on large-scale landscape construction projects.
• Experience mentoring junior commercial team members.

Responsibilities

• Manage budgets and monitor financial performance to achieve target margins.
• Produce cost reports, forecasts and financial updates for stakeholders.
• Complete monthly CVRs, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Prepare and submit monthly valuations, ensuring captured works are recovered.
• Manage variations, instructions and change control processes.
• Collaborate with client QS to agree valuations and contract matters.
• Conduct site measurements and review quantities against drawings.
• Procure subcontract packages and negotiate terms.
• Support procurement planning, material quotations and project purchasing.
• Review subcontractor applications and manage accounts.
• Monitor labour costs through timesheet and invoice reviews.
• Maintain commercial records and contractual documentation.
• Support delay analysis and entitlement matters.
• Attend contract review meetings and provide financial insights.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks to protect profitability.
