Job summary

London Borough of Newham seeks an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Property and Assets team. You will lead cost management, procurement and contract administration across a diverse portfolio of capital projects, maintenance programmes and regeneration initiatives.

You will collaborate with project managers, consultants and contractors to deliver projects on time, within budget and to high standards while mentoring junior surveyors and supporting commercial risk management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• MRICS qualification or working towards chartership.
• Excellent IT skills.
• Significant experience in cost management and contract administration.
• Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
• Experience of procurement and tendering processes.
• Excellent financial and commercial management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in cost management systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional quantity surveying services across a wide-ranging property portfolio.
• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial reports.
• Lead procurement exercises and tender evaluations.
• Administer contracts including JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Assess valuations, variations, claims and final accounts.
• Monitor project expenditure and report on financial performance.
• Identify and manage commercial risks.
• Provide strategic cost advice to project teams and senior management.
• Support the delivery of capital investment, compliance and maintenance programmes.
• Mentor and support junior surveyors and project staff where required.
