Job summary

Thorn Baker Recruitment Ltd in the East Midlands is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function for house-building projects. The role is office-based with regular site visits across Nottinghamshire.

You will manage cost plans, procurement, contracts, and cost reporting while driving value engineering and mentoring the commercial team to ensure projects stay on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
• Driving licence valid in the UK.
• Proven quantity surveying experience in house building or residential sector.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for house building projects.
• Manage procurement processes including tendering and contract negotiation.
• Administer contracts, variations, claims and payments with clients/subcontractors.
• Monitor project costs and provide regular financial reports to senior management.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the lifecycle of projects.
• Collaborate with design and site teams to optimise cost efficiency and value engineering.
• Lead and mentor junior quantity surveyors within the commercial team.
