Skilled Careers is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Milton Keynes-based contractor. The role offers salary bands up to £80,000 and flexible working, with ownership of commercial performance across a varied project portfolio.

For the successful candidate, responsibilities include managing costs, administering JCT contracts, producing CVRs and forecasts, and leading subcontractor procurement and negotiations to protect margins.

Qualifications

• Essential: Previous Quantity Surveying experience working for a main contractor.
• Strong working knowledge of JCT contracts and their commercial administration.
• Proven experience managing project costs, subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify financial risks, manage budgets and protect project margins.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to manage commercial relationships and take ownership of projects.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial performance of construction projects from initial procurement through to final account.
• Administering JCT contracts, including valuations, variations, payment applications and contractual matters.
• Preparing and managing CVRs, cost forecasts, budgets and regular financial reports.
• Leading subcontractor procurement, commercial negotiations, payments and account management.
• Working closely with project managers, clients and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and commercially successfully.
