Job summary

Carmichael UK in Milton Keynes is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our route-wide Commercial team on a major infrastructure project.

You will work largely independently, with occasional leadership of a small commercial staff, preparing and agreeing variation accounts, monitoring cost against targets and programmes, and providing contractual advice to management to ensure compliance with notices and contract obligations.

Qualifications

• Qualified with a Quantity Surveying degree or similar.
• Enrolled in, or seeking membership of, a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar).
• Experience at Quantity Surveyor level delivering a positive commercial outcome for projects.
• Mentor junior team members and work under deadlines with the Commercial team.
• Hold a Full Driving License and have access to your own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and agree variation accounts for main contracts and sub-contracts.
• Monitor cost against targets and contract progress against programmes.
• Prepare interim valuations, final valuations, and final accounts.
• Issue certification and payment of sub-contractors.
• Provide contractual advice to management and ensure compliance with notices.

We’re recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our route wide Commercial team based in Milton Keynes to work on a major infrastructure project

This role will require youcarry out tasks independently (and at times involve this will involve leading a small group of commercial staff) and will involve carrying out both periodical duties and one-off tasks in accordance with deadlines as directed by the senior Commercial team. You will need to prepare and agree variation accounts – main contract and sub-contracts. We would also need you to monitor cost against targets and contract progress against accepted programmes and work plans in conjunction with other team disciplines.

We expect you to provide input into change control procedures for EOT, delays and performance adjustment. Another key part of the role is to prepare and agree interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts and sub-contract final accounts. You’ll also need to prepare and issue certification and payment of sub-contractors. It’s essential that you provide contractual advice to management (ensure compliance with contract and legal administration obligations e.g. Timely issue of relevant notices).

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Qualified with a Quantity Surveying degree or similar.
• Enrolled in, or seeking membership of, a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar).
• Successful experience at Quantity Surveyor level, displaying skill in delivering a positive commercial outcome for the project(s) with which you have been associated.
• The ability to listen, learn and take on board new concepts and carry out actions, whilst mentoring junior team members.
• You must hold a Full Driving License and have access to your own vehicle
