Job summary

VERTEC SERVICES Ltd is seeking a Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support tendering and pre-construction activities from our Milton Keynes office. You will work closely with the Commercial Director, Estimators, and Senior Management to drive cost planning, pricing, and submission of competitive tenders.

The role requires proven QS experience in construction, main contractor exposure, and the ability to manage multiple tenders with strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
• Previous experience working for a Main Contractor is essential.
• Strong understanding of the tendering and pre-construction process.
• Experience pricing a range of construction projects.
• Available immediately or at short notice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
• Producing take-offs and assisting with cost planning
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Supporting the preparation of competitive and commercially sound tender submissions
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
• Assisting with pricing reviews and tender adjudications
• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal stakeholders
• Supporting the smooth handover of successful bids into project delivery teams
• Working across multiple tenders simultaneously to meet submission deadlines

Freelance Quantity Surveyor - Construction

Main Contractor Experience Essential Milton Keynes (Office Based)

Our client, a successful and growing Main Contractor, is seeking an experienced Contract Quantity Surveyor to join their Milton Keynes office on a contract basis.

Due to a high volume of live and upcoming opportunities, they require additional commercial support to assist with the preparation and submission of multiple construction tenders. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working within a fast-paced pre-construction environment and can provide immediate value to a busy commercial team.

The Role

Working closely with the Commercial Director, Estimators, and Senior Management Team, you will play a key role in supporting the tendering process across a variety of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
