Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to work with Energy on the ETP Project in Aberthaw (South of Cardiff near Barry) OR Llandyfaelog (between Carmathen and Llanelli). The commercial team will be based off site predominantly for Stages 1a and 1b at a client co-located office in Bristol / Cardiff (TBC).

Llandyfaelog is a new substation build, Aberthaw is an extension of an existing substation.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing commercial aspects of large energy/EP projects.
• Strong cost-control and forecasting skills.
• Proven ability to negotiate terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and standard methods of measurement.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently manage all commercial aspects of the Project and maintain regular liaison with all stakeholders.
• Assist in building a team, establish objectives/targets for direct reports and monitor progress.
• Collate, analyse & challenge Cost/Value Reports and forecasts; implement actions.
• Negotiate terms with subcontractors and suppliers to maximise value and manage risk.
• Design and implement a commercial strategy for the portfolio and tenders.
• Assist in developing Commercial Practitioners and APC candidates.
• Help maximise cash position including WIP control and cash flow improvement.
• Advise on insurance issues including PI.
• Support business development and Client presentations for tenders.
