Murphy is recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to work with Energy on the ETP Warley Substation Project based out of our offices in Kentish Town. Our business is well-known for its extensive in-house expertise, experience, and continuous drive to innovate within the industry to create added value for all our customers.

Today we support groundbreaking transmission and distribution projects in four countries - ensuring their energy security for decades to come.

Qualifications

• Chartered Quantity Surveyor status (MRICS) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and measurement standards.
• Evidence-based decision making and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently manage all commercial aspects of the Project and liaise with stakeholders.
• Assist in building a team, set objectives and monitor progress for direct reports.
• Collate, analyse and challenge Cost/Value Reports and forecasts; implement actions.
• Negotiate terms with subcontractors and suppliers to optimise value and risk.
• Design and implement a commercial strategy for portfolio and tenders with manager support.
• Develop and train Commercial Practitioners including APC mentoring.
• Maximise cash position (WIP, cash flow) and produce improvement plans for projects.
• Identify insurance related issues, including PI, and advise accordingly.
• Support business development and attend Client Tender Presentations as required.
• Ensure optimum performance of the commercial team and monitor margin gains.
• Monitor monthly outturn costs with detailed bottom-up forecasts.
