Job summary

J Murphy & Sons is recruiting a Managing Quantity Surveyor to support the Energy team on the Great Grid Upgrade project in North Wales. You will reinforce and refurbish high power networks and lead commercial delivery across the portfolio.

The role requires MRICS or equivalent, strong knowledge of NEC contracts, and the ability to drive cost control, risk management, and client reporting with senior management. Hybrid working options may apply.

Qualifications

MRICS or equivalent preferred.
Registered with RICS or ICES.
Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and standard methods of measurement.
Capable of confident, informed, quality decision making.
Ability to synthesise information quickly and communicate reports to senior management.

Responsibilities

Efficiently manage all commercial aspects of the project and liaise with stakeholders.
Assist in building and guiding the team; set objectives for direct reports.
Collate, analyse and challenge cost/value reports and forecasts; implement actions.
Negotiate with subcontractors to manage risk and deliver value to the client.
Design and implement a commercial strategy for portfolio and tenders.
Mentor Commercial Practitioners including APC guidance.
Help maximise cash position: manage WIP and cash flow improvement plans.
Monitor outturn costs monthly with bottom-up forecasting.
Ensure optimum performance of the commercial team and margin improvement.
