Job summary

Smart 4 EPC in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management on a hyperscale data centre project in Northumberland. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will own valuations, subcontractor packages, and cost reporting to ensure safe, profitable delivery.

You will mentor junior members, manage variations and final accounts, and liaise with site teams to drive commercial success on a multi-phased, multi-billion project, offering long-term career stability.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years' experience in construction.
• Experience with a main contractor is essential.
• Strong contractual and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and management of monthly valuations and payment applications.
• Commercial management of subcontractor packages, including procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
• Review and administration of contract documentation.
• Negotiation and agreement of variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Preparation of detailed financial reports for senior management.
• Liaison with site, design, procurement, and project delivery teams.
• Support the successful commercial delivery of a large-scale mission-critical construction project.
• Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team.
