Job summary

Construction Resources Limited in Worcester is recruiting a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join the established contractor’s commercial team. The role covers pre-contract through final account, handling valuations, budgets and subcontractor management within a busy project portfolio.

You will bring experience in construction, social housing, repairs and refurbishment, with strong financial management, contract knowledge and a proactive approach to cost control.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in a similar commercial role.
• Experience in construction, social housing, repairs and maintenance or refurbishment.
• Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills.
• Experience managing subcontractors and supply chains.
• Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial performance of allocated projects and contracts.
• Preparing and reviewing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Managing variations, valuations and compensation events where applicable.
• Preparing and monitoring project budgets and forecasts.
• Managing costs and identifying potential commercial risks and opportunities.
• Reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Procuring subcontractors and materials where required.
• Preparing, issuing and managing subcontract orders.
• Monitoring subcontractor performance and payments.
• Reviewing project costs against budgets and forecasts.
• Working closely with operational teams to ensure commercial targets are achieved.
• Liaising with clients and stakeholders regarding commercial matters.
• Preparing regular commercial reports for senior management.
• Identifying opportunities to improve profitability and minimise costs.
• Ensuring contractual obligations and commercial procedures are followed.
• Supporting the resolution of contractual and commercial issues.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
• Assisting with tenders, pricing and new work opportunities where required.
