Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd is representing an established construction and refurbishment contractor delivering high-quality refurbishment and maintenance projects across the North West. They are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the Rochdale team, focusing on the commercial management of social housing refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction.
• Social housing refurbishment experience is highly desirable.
• Experience on refurbishment, maintenance or planned works programmes.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting, valuations and final accounts.
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement.
• Good understanding of construction contracts.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Good Microsoft Excel and IT skills.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial performance of allocated refurbishment projects
• Preparing and monitoring CVRs, forecasts, and cost reports
• Managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts
• Preparing valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts
• Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Working closely with Contracts Managers, Project Managers, and site teams
• Reviewing contractual requirements and ensuring commercial compliance
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners
• Supporting the successful delivery of social housing refurbishment programmes
