Job summary

Kenton Black is recruiting for a Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a busy commercial team supporting civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The role is hybrid, based in Leicestershire, with a long-term freelance contract and Outside IR35.

The successful candidate will manage commercial aspects from award to final account, ensure contractual compliance, and provide robust cost control across project lifecycles. NEC contract administration experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing subcontract procurement and administration.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Excellent commercial awareness and reporting skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Commercial management of projects from award through to final account.
• Administration of NEC contracts.
• Preparation of cost reports, forecasts and valuations.
• Management of compensation events and variations.
• Procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages.
• Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Producing accurate commercial reporting and documentation.
• Liaising with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners.
• Supporting the successful delivery of projects in line with commercial objectives.
