Job summary

Sphere Solutions is recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the growing commercial team in the South West. You will take commercial responsibility for a portfolio from pre-contract through final account, ensuring profitability while maintaining relationships with clients and subcontractors.

You will manage valuations, cost reporting, and forecasting, with exposure to groundworks, surfacing, highways, and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a QS role.
• Background in groundworks, surfacing, highways, or infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
• Experience with CVRs, cost reporting, and forecasting.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and submission of valuations and applications for payment.
• Monitoring and controlling project costs and budgets.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, and payments.
• Measuring works on site and tracking project progress.
• Managing variations and change control processes.
• Supporting tendering, procurement, and cost planning.
• Producing monthly CVRs and commercial reports.
• Providing accurate forecasting and reporting to senior management.
• Ensuring compliance with NEC / JCT contract requirements.
• Working closely with operational teams to drive commercial performance.
