Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for the STEP Programme based in West Burton with hybrid working. You will lead commercial delivery, manage NEC4 contracts, develop cost forecasts and support project teams to maximise value and profitability.

You'll oversee subcontractor procurement and final accounts, identify commercial risks, and contribute to governance and reporting. This role demands strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and a track record delivering major

We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our STEP Programme team based in West Burton.

Location: West Burton with some hybrid Hours: 45 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at the STEP Programme. You'll be responsible for package proposals and package delivery as these are secured by Kier Nuvia JV. This role offers the chance to be part of a long-term presence at STEP, where you'll contribute through exceptional customer service, relationship building and value for money management. You'll maximise profitability, improve cash flow, manage commercial risk and provide commercial support to project teams whilst maintaining compliance with JV governance procedures and contractual requirements.

What will you be responsible for?

• Supporting delivery of programme commercial objectives, profitability targets, cost certainty and cash performance
• Administering contracts in accordance with NEC4 forms of contract, including compensation events, quotations, early warnings and change control
• Managing subcontractors from procurement to final account, including preparation of tender documentation and establishing collaborative relationships
• Developing and maintaining detailed cost forecasts, cost-to-complete assessments and commercial performance reports
• Identifying, evaluating and managing commercial risks and opportunities across assigned packages

• You have significant experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within major infrastructure, energy, nuclear, defence or complex construction projects
• You have experience managing complex subcontract procurement and commercial package management
• You have a thorough understanding of the NEC suite of contracts
• You possess strong cost planning, forecasting and reporting capability with excellent negotiation and communication skills
• You have the ability to manage risk, change and contractual entitlement in a structured and auditable manner

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the STEP Programme team, supporting them in delivering commercial objectives through proactive contract management and stakeholder engagement. Your day to day will include:

• Supporting delivery of commercial objectives, profitability targets and cash performance across the programme
• Providing commercial advice to project teams and developing detailed cost forecasts and performance reports
• Administering NEC4 contracts, including compensation events, early warnings and contractual notices
• Managing subcontractors from procurement through to final account, fostering collaborative relationships throughout
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities, whilst mentoring junior team members
