Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Lune Gorge team on site with some hybrid working. You will be responsible for procuring strategies, managing valuations, cashflows and monthly cost reports to drive commercial success.

The role requires a degree in QS or related field, experience in infrastructure or civil projects, knowledge of NEC contracts, and willingness to travel to sites. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related field.
• Proven experience in a commercial/quantity surveying role within contractor environments.
• Strong knowledge of contract forms including NEC and standard contracts.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Collaborative team player with clients, stakeholders and delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensure procurement strategies are followed, manage subcontract inquiries and tender reviews.
• Manage valuations, project cashflows and prepare monthly cost reports with progress tracking.
• Provide legal and contractual guidance on orders, changes and subcontractor administration.
• Drive commercial initiatives and produce margin improvement plans.
• Lead and support junior staff, meet deadlines and complete commercial tasks.

Location:

Lune Gorge, Cumbria – site based with some hybrid working

Hours:

12 Months Fixed Term 45 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

Salary:

up to £70,000 per year + private healthcare + £6,700 annual car allowance + benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, You'll Be Working Within The Lune Gorge Team, Supporting Them In Delivering Commercial Success Across Projects. Your Day To Day Will Include

• Ensuring compliance with procurement strategies, including managing subcontract inquiries and tender reviews
• Managing valuations, project cashflows, and preparing monthly cost reports with progress tracking
• Providing legal and contractual guidance on orders, changes, and subcontractor administration
• Driving commercial initiatives and producing margin improvement plans to maximize opportunities
• Leading and supporting junior staff, ensuring deadlines and commercial tasks are met

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Quantity Surveyor is ideal for someone who:

• Holds a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• Has proven experience in a commercial or quantity surveying role within a contractor environment, ideally across major infrastructure, highways, or civil engineering projects
• Brings strong knowledge of a range of contract forms, including NEC and other standard construction contracts
• Holds a full UK driving licence and is comfortable travelling to project sites when required
• Thrives in a collaborative team environment, building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project delivery teams to achieve commercial success
