Job summary

Ganymede Solutions Ltd is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major UK water sector investment programme. The role is based in Tamworth, with 4 days per week office/site based and salary up to £80,000 plus package.

You will take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of NEC-based projects, coordinating with Project Managers and delivery teams, managing procurement, change events and final accounts while building strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders.

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Water

Location: Tamworth
Salary: Up to £80,000 + package
Working Pattern: 4 days per week office/site based

Ganymede Solutions are working in partnership with a leading organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major long-term investment programme within the UK water sector.

The successful candidate will be seconded into Severn Trent, working as part of an established client-side commercial team responsible for the delivery of a significant portfolio of capital works.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced infrastructure Quantity Surveyor looking to move into, or continue within, a client-side environment and play a key role in the commercial delivery of essential water infrastructure.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of projects, supporting delivery from procurement and contract award through to completion and final account.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Commercial and contractual management of projects under NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
• Working closely with Project Managers and delivery teams to manage project performance
• Cost control, forecasting and budget management
• Assessment of contractor applications and payment valuations
• Management and negotiation of compensation events and project change
• Reviewing Defined Cost and supporting commercial decision making
• Procurement and tender evaluation
• Identifying and managing commercial and contractual risk
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting
• Supporting the resolution of contractual issues and claims
• Managing projects through to final account
• Building effective relationships with contractors and key project stakeholders
• Supporting and mentoring less experienced members of the commercial team where required

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong infrastructure background and good knowledge of NEC contracts.

You will ideally have:

• Strong NEC3 and/or NEC4 contract experience
• Experience working across major infrastructure or capital delivery projects
• Strong knowledge of cost management, forecasting and commercial reporting
• Experience managing change and compensation events
• Good understanding of procurement, valuations and final accounts
• Experience within Water, Utilities, Civil Engineering, Rail or another infrastructure environment
• Previous client-side experience would be advantageous but is not essential
• A degree or equivalent qualification within Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Previous water sector experience would be beneficial, although candidates with strong transferable infrastructure experience will also be considered.
