Job summary

Ganymede Solutions is seeking a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major capital maintenance programme in the water sector. Based in Lincoln with occasional travel, the role is freelance and starts ASAP, handling capital projects with end-to-end commercial ownership.

The successful candidate will manage existing schemes, lead commercial close-out, and oversee subcontractor relationships while driving variations, cost forecasting, and final accounts within a hands-on team

Qualifications

• Experience in infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering
• Strong all-round commercial experience
• Experience taking projects through close-out and final accounts
• Good subcontract management experience
• Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting and change management
• Ability to pick up existing projects and understand their commercial position
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple schemes
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Location: Lincoln / Lincolnshire - occasional travel across the wider region

Ganymede Solutions is working with a leading UK infrastructure contractor looking to strengthen its commercial team on a major capital maintenance programme within the water sector.

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor who can join an established team and take ownership of a portfolio of existing and legacy works.

This is very much an all-round commercial role, requiring somebody comfortable picking up projects at different stages and driving outstanding commercial matters through to resolution and close-out.

Key Responsibilities

• Commercial management of capital maintenance projects
• Picking up and reviewing existing and legacy schemes
• Driving outstanding commercial matters through to resolution
• Subcontractor management and account administration
• Managing variations and change
• Cost reporting and forecasting
• Project close-out and final accounts
• Maintaining accurate commercial records
• Working closely with operational and delivery teams
• Ensuring commercial actions are progressed efficiently and within required timescales

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering
• Strong all-round commercial experience
• Experience taking projects through commercial close-out and final account
• Good subcontract management experience
• Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting and change management
• The ability to pick up existing projects and quickly understand their commercial position
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple schemes simultaneously
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Experience within the water sector and capital maintenance frameworks would be particularly advantageous.

There are no direct management responsibilities within this position, making it well suited to a strong QS or SQS who enjoys remaining hands-on commercially.
