Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor - Regional Residential Contractor

County Durham 💷 £55,000-£70,000 DOE + Package Salary based on experience

Elvet Recruitment is working with a respected regional residential contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor. This contractor delivers high-quality housing projects across the North East, with a reputation for trusted partnerships and efficient project delivery.

About the Role

You'll play a pivotal role in the commercial management of residential construction projects across the region. From cost planning and subcontractor procurement to financial reporting and contract administration, your expertise will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for allocated housing projects
  • Produce valuations and cost-to-complete reports on a quarterly basis
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, payments, and final settlements with full sign-off
  • Issue subcontract orders in line with company procedures and compliance standards
  • Conduct site measurements and verify contractor claims
  • Attend and contribute to project meetings with site teams and external partners
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and uphold trade specifications
  • Price variations and customer extras, liaising with site and commercial teams
  • Manage professional fees budgets and support material procurement processes
  • Provide cost input for tenders, bids, and land appraisals
About You

We're seeking a commercially astute and detail-driven professional with:

  • Proven experience in quantity surveying within residential contracting
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of COINS ERP is advantageous
  • Familiarity with Xpedeon and Viewpoint/4Projects is beneficial
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage workload independently while supporting wider team objectives
  • Solid understanding of surveying, estimating, and cost-control strategies
  • Experience with cost reporting, procure-to-pay systems, and document management
