Job summary

Walker & Sloan in Manchester seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Associate to lead commercial delivery across a diverse portfolio including residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

You will mentor junior surveyors, manage pre/post-contract services, develop cost plans and procurement strategies, and support business development for the Manchester office. MRICS is desirable and a full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Senior/Associate level Quantity Surveyor experience in a construction consultancy.
• Experience with private sector clients and developers.
• Able to deliver both pre and post-contract Quantity Surveying services.
• Strong cost planning and commercial management capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of JCT contracts and procurement routes.
• Capable of managing multiple commissions and leading project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of pre and post-contract Quantity Surveying services across multiple projects.
• Prepare feasibility studies, cost plans and development appraisals.
• Advise developers and private sector clients throughout the development lifecycle.
• Develop procurement strategies and manage tender processes.
• Prepare tender documentation and evaluate returned tenders.
• Administer JCT contracts and provide contractual advice.
• Produce cost reports, valuations and financial forecasts.
• Manage variations, commercial risk and change control.
• Negotiate and agree final accounts.
• Act as the commercial lead during client and project meetings.
• Mentor and develop junior Quantity Surveyors within the team.
• Support business development activities and maintain key client relationships.
• Assist with strategic growth of the Manchester office.

A leading multidisciplinary construction consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Associate to join its expanding Manchester office.

Working predominantly with private sector clients and developers, you’ll lead the commercial delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to step into an Associate-level position, or an established Associate seeking a fresh challenge within a growing consultancy.

You’ll enjoy significant client exposure, lead major commissions and play an active role in mentoring junior surveyors while helping to grow long-term client relationships.

Role Overview

About You

• Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Associate Quantity Surveyor within a construction consultancy
• Strong experience working with private sector clients and property developers
• Proven ability to deliver both pre and post-contract Quantity Surveying services
• Excellent cost planning and commercial management skills
• Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and procurement routes
• Confident managing multiple commissions and leading project teams
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• MRICS Chartered status is highly desirable
• Commercially minded with an interest in developing new business opportunities
• Full UK driving licence
