Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team on major civil engineering schemes that power Scotland’s renewable energy future. Based a mix of on-site in Peterhead and at our Kilsyth head office, you’ll help deliver large-scale projects and develop within a high-performing commercial team.

Qualifications include degree or HNC/D with NEC contract experience, plus a proven ability to mentor, build relationships with clients and project teams, and manage cost

Qualifications

• Experience with NEC forms of contract is required.
• Ability to mentor and coach direct reports.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project team including the Client, Project Managers and Designers.

• Manage diverse projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness, with an emphasis on adding value.
• Collaborate in joint venture projects, building productive relationships.
• Excel in contract negotiation for optimized project profitability.
• Mentor teams and enhance operational capabilities.
• Showcase collaboration and communication skills.
• Multitask to meet deliverables without compromising quality.
• Manage, supervise and mentor reports within the commercial structure.
• Provide and control strategy of commercial contacts with client’s representatives.
• Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documents.
• Commercial management of subcontractors.
• Monitor timely production of reliable cost performance data.
• Produce and present monthly/quarterly reports.
• Oversee timely production of payment applications as per contract terms.
• Provide commercial advice to site team and management on contractual issues.
• Prepare and manage insurance claim financial assessments with insurers.

What do you bring to the role?

Necessary

• Successful experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, or at Quantity Surveyor level looking to take the next step in your career, demonstrating effective core commercial skills
• Experience of NEC forms of contract
• Demonstrable ability to mentor and coach direct reports
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project team including the Client, Project Managers and Designers
• Have the confidence and ability to work within a team environment, and to have a positive influence on outcomes.
• Relevant qualification (Degree, HNC/D)

• Relevant Professional qualification (CICES/RICS)
