Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor for an onshore team, based in Inverness-shire. The role involves leading a commercial team on large civil works and coordinating with operations, support services and clients to deliver robust financial control and value delivery.

Initially office-based in Kilsyth or Inverness, with site work three days per week and two days at head offices. Living-away allowance and other package benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience managing a team across multiple projects.
• Experience on civil engineering schemes.
• Experience with NEC form of Contract.
• Thorough understanding of contractual provisions with the ability to comment, review and draft documents.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a commercial team across multiple schemes.
• Liaise closely with operations and support services to ensure alignment and collaboration.
• Contribute commercial insight to strategic decision‑making.
• Oversee commercial aspects of multiple projects, including CVRs, cash flow, forecasts, payments and change management.
• Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes and subcontractor management procedures.
• Work with clients and stakeholders to identify and deliver commercial solutions.
• Represent the company in commercial discussions, negotiations and reviews.
• Provide input during pre-construction/tender phases, including ECI projects.

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced and motivated Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our ASTI onshore team, working on a new large substation in Inverness-shire. As a key member of this team, you will contribute to the delivery of large‑scale civil engineering works that will provide critical infrastructure to support future renewable developments across Scotland.

Initially, you will be based out of our Kilsyth or Inverness office, before transitioning to site during the project delivery phase, where you will likely be on site a minimum of three days per week, with the remaining two days at one of our head offices. A living‑away allowance will be provided for working away from home, along with other package benefits.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a commercial team across multiple schemes.
• Liaise closely with the operations team and support services to ensure alignment and collaboration.
• Participate in project performance discussions and contribute commercial insight to strategic decision‑making.
• Oversee commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring the timely delivery of monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow monitoring, monthly and quarterly financial forecasts, applications for payment, and effective change management.
• Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes, procedures, and best practices.
• Work closely with clients and key stakeholders to identify and deliver optimal commercial solutions.
• Represent the company in commercial discussions, negotiations, and progress reviews.
• Ensure adherence to procurement and subcontractor management procedures.
• Provide input and commercial guidance during the pre‑construction/tender phases of projects.
• Manage Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) projects or a portfolio of ECI projects from a commercial perspective, including review of contract documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience managing a team across multiple projects.
• Previous experience on civil engineering schemes.
• Experience with NEC form of Contract.
• Thorough understanding of contractual provisions with a view to be able to comment, review and draft documents.
• Relevant qualification – Degree or HNC/D.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Early Contractor Involvement.
• Experience with target cost contracts.
• Good client‑facing collaborative attitude.
• Good communication skills.Relevant professional qualification (CICES/RICS).
