Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Managing Quantity Surveyor to support the Environment Agency framework in the Northeast of England. The role combines office work in Leeds with on-site duties, with flexible working options.

Ideal candidates will have Senior QS level experience, strong commercial skills, and the ability to lead a commercial team and engage with clients, project managers and designers. NEC/contract knowledge is beneficial and NEC3/NEC4 exposure is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Successful experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level or higher demonstrating core commercial skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project team including Client, Project Managers and Designers.
  • Willing to work a mix of office-based Leeds and on-site duties with flexible working.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy
  • Maintain effective communication with the team you are working with
  • Manage, supervise and mentor your direct reports
  • Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documents
  • Commercial management of subcontractors including processing payments, obtaining final account agreements, and resolving disputed issues by negotiation, if appropriate
  • Ensure the timely production of reliable cost performance data
  • Assist in the production of monthly / quarterly reports
  • Be responsible for change management including ensuring adherence to Contractual timescales and Notices
  • Ensure adherence to Risk and Opportunity management protocol and advise the Management Team accordingly
  • Be responsible for the timely production of appropriate levels of applications for payments in accordance with the provisions of the conditions of contract
  • Attend and provide input to all site commercial meetings. Providing commercial advice to the site team
  • Manage time and workloads for yourself and your commercial team in a structured manner

BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure segment has an opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Managing Quantity Surveyor to work in Hub A of our Environment Agency (EA) framework in the Northeast of England; the Framework covers the delivery of ESE and Construction Contracts for maintaining and renewing flood defences and associated infrastructure. This role will be a combination of being based at our office in Leeds as well as working on site; flexible working will also be considered.

  • Successful experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level or higher demonstrating effective core commercial skills

  • Have the confidence and ability to work within a team environment, and to have a positive influence on outcomes

  • Willing to help and assist those around you in their development

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word


The Following Are Desirable Requirements


  • Early Contractor Involvement experience

  • Experience in NEC3 and NEC4 forms of contract

  • Experience of target cost contracts

  • Working towards CICES membership or equivalent
